In this research space, our main clients include the Blue House, political parties, and the media. Hankook Research conducts election surveys, strategic surveys, and public opinion polls on pending issues. Hankook Research conducts rigorous election polls in compliance with the standards set forth by the National Election Survey Deliberation Committee. In an effort to increase the representativeness and validity of our polls, we take into account additional variables such as occupation, educational background, region, gender, and age. Hankook Research operates 100 permanent telephone survey lines and improves overall efficiency by making use of auto-dialing systems.

Hankook Research is conducting research into the overall policy formation process of central, regional, local governments, and research institutes affiliated with local governments. In order to monitor the public opinions of regional residents, Hankook Research conducts public opinion polls, measures satisfaction and efficacy rates for local government policies, the feasibility of new government projects, delves into current issues that regional governments face, and examines public welfare policy.
Depending on the purpose and nature of the study, various survey methods such as telephone interviews, face-to-face interviews, web surveys, and FGI are used. Hankook Research operates regional branch offices in Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, and Gwangju so that we can respond quickly to regional research requests.

Hankook Research measures the integrity of public institutions that are overseen by the Anti-Corruption & Civil Rights Commission. We conduct more research of this nature than any other market research firm in Korea. We execute projects in an effort to understand the present standing of anti-corruption policy, to identify the effects of anti-corruption policies, and to diagnose, scientifically, the level of integrity and fairness in government. We provide support to the Anti-Corruption & Civil Rights Commission by cooperating with and working with top-level researchers in this field.

In this research space, our clients are typically organizations like the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Korea Labor Institute, and the Korea Research Institute for Vocation Education and Training. For these clients, we examine industries, professions, employment rates, and labor policies that affect all Koreans. We provide rational and valuable insight into labor markets. Having been started in 1998, this is the longest running study of its kind in Korea. Hankook Research has within its ranks researchers that are specialized in the study of labor, employment, and policies governing both. We have the know-how and a deep respondent pool from which we can pull meaningful data.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport and Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements are our main clients in this research space. We conduct residential and real estate research on these organizations’ behalf.
In addition to conducting nationwide household surveys annually, Hankook Research also conducts housing surveys targeting special households such as the elderly and the disabled. In cooperation with other regional research institutes, we survey housing conditions at the regional level (i.e. Seoul metro area, Gyeongi-do, etc.)
In addition, by continuously conducting panel surveys that track households living in public housing located in Seoul, Hankook Research is further enhancing its expertise in this field.

These studies examine elementary/junior high/high school students, their parents, and their teachers and are done primarily for the Korean Education Development Institute, National Youth Policy Institute, and Ministry of Education
The Korean Education Longitudinal Survey takes a long-term view of students, future adolescents, and teachers. Every year, we survey 1,000 elementary/junior high/high school students, their parents, and teachers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the education environment in Korea.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare, the National Health Insurance Corporation, and the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs are our main clients in this research space. Hankook Research conducts research on the welfare system as well as medical care. We continuously conduct large-scale welfare and medical care surveys in Korea such as the National Health Insurance Corporation’s “National Public Opinion Survey on Health and Long-Term Care Insurance,” the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs’ “Social Integration Survey,” and the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s “Public Perceptions Survey on the Policies for the Prevention of the Spread of COVID-19.” Because of this vast experience, Hankook Research has a superior level of expertise in the welfare and medical care research space.

We examine the environments in which infants and children are raised. We aim to forecast the need and demand for child rearing and education policies and evaluate satisfaction levels of current policies. We cover a variety of topics within this research space and provide the results to those organizations and groups that are critical in the raising of our children.

The Korea Institute for National Unification and the Korean Institute for Defense Analysis are our main clients in this research space. We conduct research into pending unification proposals and national defense issue. Every year, we examine North Korean policy, inter-Korean relations, and the perceptions of neighboring countries in an effort to understand Koreans’ perception and attitudes towards unification and national security. In order to conduct time-series analysis, we provide year-over-year data as well as English-language data sets.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Korea Culture & Tourism Institute, Korea Tourism Organization, Korea Arts & Culture Education Service, and other regional organizations devoted to the growth of tourism are our main clients in this research space. We examine policy issues affecting these industries. Hankook Research conducts rigorous studies in compliance with the strict standards set forth by the National Statistical Office. And, if necessary, we consider additional variables such as income level, occupation, and educational background in addition to region, gender, age in order to increase the overall representativeness and validity of our surveys. In order to conduct interviews nationwide, we employ interviewers who specialize in culture/tourism-related surveys in all major metropolitan cities (Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, Gwangju, etc.).

These studies are often done on behalf of organizations like the Korean Forestry Promotion Agency, Korea Rural Economic Institute, and Korea Rural Community Corporation. These accredited statistical surveys are conducted in an effort to identify and address issues that arise in the agricultural and forestry industries. We use the same strict standards set forth by the National Statistical Office in order to conduct fair and impartial studies. We look at a variety of factors such as region, gender, age, income, profession, and educational background.

These studies are done in partnership with a variety of organizations associated with the energy and environment sectors such as the Korea Energy Economics Institute, the Korea Radioactive Waste Agency, the Korea Environment Institute, the Korea Environmental Economics Association, and the Korea Resource Economics Association. We examine Koreans’ attitudes towards energy and the environment using a variety of research methodologies such as conjoint analysis and conditional value measurement methods. These studies are done in partnership with a variety of organization such as the National Youth Policy Institute, The Seoul Institute, the Korea Employment Information Service, and a myriad of other regional organizations. We investigate various fields related to youth policy in coordination with local government bodies.
In an effort to cope with the problems presented by low at-home rates and poor cooperation of adolescents, we conduct surveys by applying special data collection methods that accurately reflect the characteristics of this particular age group.

Disabled Persons

At the core of our understanding of employment rates of disabled Koreans is the Economic Activity of Disabled Persons Survey we conduct annually. We have moderators and interviewers who have the specialized skills necessary to survey and interview disabled persons. Hankook Research conducted the country’s first study to examine the lives of those with developmental disabilities and their caretakers. We have the expertise necessary to carry out specialized research methods such as cognitive level screening and image recognition.
